The Order of Saint Luke the Physician in New Zealand is an organisation comprising members of the Christian faith across denominations. The order is dedicated to Christian healing ministry and provides resources for teaching and encouraging members in the practice of healing, both by intercessory prayer, the laying on of hands with prayer and anointing with blessed oil. The objective of the founders of the Order was to encourage church congregations to practice healing ministry regularly, as part of their worship services.
The Order of St Luke teaching supplies members with a foundation for the ministry of healing to become a regular part of their lives, through members committing to regularly gather together in local chapters and healing groups - whether in person, online or via postal contact. This commitment includes taking part in fellowship, study and prayer for wholeness and wellness of body, mind and spirit, as members answer the calling to minister in their wider communities.
